Another Song...

You know how sometimes your just listening to your playlist and a song comes on that stops you in your tracks and brings tears to your eyes...This one did for me tonight..

It's so easy to get lost inside
A problem that seems so big, at the time
It's like a river that's so wide
It swallows you whole
While you're sittin round thinking about what you can't change
And worryin' about all the wrong things
Time's flying by, moving so fast
You better make it count, cause you can't get it back
Sometimes that mountain you've been climbing
Is just a grain of sand
What you've been out there searchin for forever
Is in your hands
Oh, When you figure out love is all that matters after all
It sure makes everything else
Seem so small
- Carrie Underwood "So Small"

Motherhood

One of the magazines I subscribe to is having an essay contest about motherhood. Participants are asked to write an essay and submit a photo that illustrates the story. The prompt for the essay is "What does motherhood mean to me?" Here's what I wrote:

Some days it's still hard for me to believe that I'm a mother, let alone a mother to twins. Being a mother is like nothing I expected and everything I hoped for. It's hard to believe that someone with such tiny fingers and toes can have such a big place in your heart. To me, motherhood means realizing that the imperfections are perfect. It’s finding joy in the little everyday moments. It’s viewing the whole world in a new light – rocks become fascinating, empty boxes provide hours of entertainment, licking the cookie dough bowl is a rewarding experience and laundry is fun again! Even though the chores take twice as long, there’s no forgetting the proud smiles of accomplishment on my twins’ faces after the dishwasher has been loaded or the clothes have been folded. I’m realizing that no one is going to remember if my shelves were dusted or my floor was clutter free, but my kids are going to remember all the times we chased each other in the backyard and danced to Raffi in the living room. I’m happily treasuring every smile, giggle and new achievement and storing them in my heart. Motherhood is nothing short of amazing!

Twins meet Scarecrow

I LOVE decorating for fall and I LOVE scarecrows! I have several around the house. One of my favorite scarecrows is a 2 foot guy that stands by our door. Before I put him in place I let the twins have a meet 'n greet with him.

Happy Fall!

Happy First Day of Fall!!
Fall is my favorite season! I love the crisp air, the sound of crunchy leaves, hot drinks - tea, milkyways, cider, snuggling under blankets, the beautiful colors - reds, oranges, yellows, golds, wearing jeans and sweatshirts, Scarecrows, and fall flowers.

obsession with lyrics

I am a firm believer in that. There have been MANY times when I'm having a hard time expressing feelings or trying to find the right words when a song comes on that says it PERFECTLY!! Hopefully that helps explain a few of my posts below. I was listing to my itunes tonight and all these songs kept coming on so I thought I'd better "journal" them. I remember finding all kinds of songs with my roomie April and applying them to our life. Ahhh...memories!

Tail Feathers

Shake ya tail feather, girl go and take it low
We can even do it slow
Take it where you want to go
Just take that ass to the floor
Pop something move something
Shake ya tail feather
- Nelly "Shake Ya Tail Feather"

Young

Looking back now, well it makes me laugh
We were growin our hair, we were cuttin' class
Knew it all already, there was nothing to learn
We were strikin' matches just to watch 'em burn
Listen to our music just a little too loud
We were hangin' in there with the outcast crowd
Headin' to the rapids with some discount beer
It was a long train tussle but we had no fear.

Man I don't know, where the time goes
But It sure goes fast, just like that
We were wanna be rebels who didn't have a clue
With our Rock n' roll T-shirts, and our typically bad attitudes
Had no excuses for the things that we'd done
We were brave, we were crazy, we were mostly
Young
- Kenny Chesney "Young"

My Little Girl

I remember I thought you looked like an angel wrapped in pink so soft and warm.
You've had me wrapped around your finger since the day you were born.
Your beautiful baby from the outside in.
Chase your dreams but always know the road that'll lead you home again.
Go on, take on this whole world.
But to me you know you'll always be, my little girl.
- Tim McGraw "My Little Girl"

Touching Lyrics

Now there's a lot of guys like me out there
In a lot of little towns
And tellin' all our buddies, we won't ever settle down
We say thats just the way we are and the way we'll always be
So God sends girls like you for guys like me
Thank God there's girls like you, for guys like me

- Eric Church "Guys like Me"

If there hadn't been you on my side
You In my life
All my dreams would still be dreams
If there hadn't been you

-Billy Dean "If There Hadn't Been You"

Only the wind

I remember as a child on a dark and stormy night
I heard the screen door slam and I was overcome with fright
So afraid that something bad was trying to get in

Then mama came to comfort me and said,
It's only the wind, and nothing more.
Not the end of the world knocking at the door
So close your eyes and dream again, believe me,It's only the wind

Every time I've had to face a bitter storm of life,
Those words of comfort were my shelter in the night
- Billy Dean "Only the Wind"

September 11th

May we never forget
May we keep this day,
The events and the tears
In our minds, our memory and our hearts
and take them with us as we carry on.
