June 21st was my 1 year anniversary with the County! I'm so lucky to have such a great job with fantastic coworkers! I can't beleive it's already been a year since I went back to work. It was such a great decision for our family. The kids and I are both thriving!!

All the sudden Addison broke out in blotchy spots!! We found out that she is allergic to amoxacilian! Poor girl! She had just finished the antibiotic for an ear infection and then she ended up with spots.

Today's Adventures

I know I'm WAAAY behind in blogging (and yes, that's probably THE understatement of the year) but I really wanted to write this down before I forgot!!

While the kiddos were supposed to be down for naps, I checked on them and they were on top of the changing table without their diapers and Aiden has diaper cream all over his hair, face, and clothes. He loves to put everything in his hair -- I guess he thinks it's hair gel! Once I got that cleaned up and everyone re-diapered, I checked on them again. Addi fell asleep by the door and Aiden has his top half covered with a blanket, but not his bottom half. Plus he had taken his diaper off again so he was totally naked! I knew that would not be a happy ending if I just left him, so I had to sneak in without hitting Addi with the door and then put a diaper on him. Luckily they both stayed asleep!!!

We've been meeting up with a mommy friend and her little boy every week. Last week we hit up the local lake that has a great walking trail through the woods. All the kiddos LOVED exploring. We didn't make it too far down the trail, but it was great to be outside and exploring. The kiddos love their friend M. Here's some pictures from our day!

Kid's Castle

Last Wednesday, I took Aiden & Addison to Kid's Castle with some of the other moms and tots from MOPS! I wasn't sure how the kids would like it, because Aiden can be REALLY shy in new situations. However, the kids did AWESOME!!!! Especially Aiden!! He had no problems going and starting to play! I was so PROUD of them!!!!

WOW! We've had a crazy morning. I was painting Addi's toes and Aiden went to grab the bottle I told him no and put the bottle back down. I have to use both hands to paint Addi's toes because she's such a wiggle worm. Well as I was doing that, Aiden grabbed the bottle of polish again and leaned over to blow on Addi's toes to help dry them and he spilled on my favorite pair of jeans. I put some nail polish remover on them and am soaking them in oxy clean. I put them in their rooms so I could clean up. When I went in there they both had their diapers off and as soon as the door opened they shot outta there FAST!! So I had to capture the two little streekers!! Just another day in paradise right?!

While they were supposed to be taking a nap, I started hearing "oh-oh". When I went to check on them, I found the door to their room locked. After several attempts using a nail and paperclip the door was finally unlocked. This is what I found:

That is baby lotion on the floor!! Somehow, using the boxes and their diaper genie, someone climbed up to the changing table, got the baby lotion and climbed back down carefully and silently!

Surviving the Twin Tornados!

The twins have been VERY BUSY (that could be the biggest UNDERSTATEMENT of the year!)!!!

Derrick was playing raquetball after work a couple of weeks ago, so it was just me and the kiddos. While I was making and eating dinner here's what the twinners managed to do:
1. Addi stuck her hand in her dirty diaper
2. I let Aiden & Addison play in the bathroom sink....few minutes later I find them both in the tub, with their clothes on & sopping wet, and the water running. Water all over the floor and the toothbrushes scattered around.
3. I ran to the bathroom while they were finishing eating the Aiden is dancing on the table.

I have also discovered that they broke a door (pushed it too far backwards) broke the door stopped hingy thing and had those put holees in the door. They got all all the diapers and scattered them around the floor!

PHEW! That makes for one tired Mama!!

I don't have any pictures, but I just HAD to write this down!!

Yesterday Aiden decided to lock himself into the office. I called my mom and my brother Brent to figure out what to do. Find something small like a paperclip and stick it in the door to pop the lock, was the advice. However, all the paperclips were in the office! I called my dad to come help because I couldn't find anything small enough. Right after I called I found a nail and it worked like a charm! Aiden wasn't the least bit worried...He was sitting down and coloring.

Aiden can also remove the child safety door covers...I think we have a lil' engineer!

This morning, I went to get the twins up from their cribs and the door was locked! (Notice the cribs!!) I knocked on the door and Addison responded with some "la-la-lah's". Of course the nail I used yesterday wasn't working for some bizarre reason. I was able to get a paperclip from the office and pop the lock. The question still remains how Addi got out of her crib all by herself. I asked her, but she just smiled!

Later today the kids found the closet with the wrapping paper. They were shaking it and unrolling it. I opened my mouth to say something and then simultaneously put the rolls up to their mouths and said "do-do"! I couldn't help but laugh!

Children's Museum - Seattle

Derrick had a work conference in Seattle a few weeks ago and the twins and I tagged along. While we were there we meet up with my friend Stephanie and her daughter Athena and headed to the Children's Museum in downtown Seattle. The 3 kids had SOOO much fun and enjoyed the hands on exploring and learning! I can't wait to go back again!

Halloween was so fun this year! Addison was a ladybug and Aiden was a dinosaur. We went trick or treating down town. They weren't totally sure of the concept but Addi loved walking around and looking at all the people!

Motherhood

One of the magazines I subscribe to is having an essay contest about motherhood. Participants are asked to write an essay and submit a photo that illustrates the story. The prompt for the essay is "What does motherhood mean to me?" Here's what I wrote:

Some days it's still hard for me to believe that I'm a mother, let alone a mother to twins. Being a mother is like nothing I expected and everything I hoped for. It's hard to believe that someone with such tiny fingers and toes can have such a big place in your heart. To me, motherhood means realizing that the imperfections are perfect. It’s finding joy in the little everyday moments. It’s viewing the whole world in a new light – rocks become fascinating, empty boxes provide hours of entertainment, licking the cookie dough bowl is a rewarding experience and laundry is fun again! Even though the chores take twice as long, there’s no forgetting the proud smiles of accomplishment on my twins’ faces after the dishwasher has been loaded or the clothes have been folded. I’m realizing that no one is going to remember if my shelves were dusted or my floor was clutter free, but my kids are going to remember all the times we chased each other in the backyard and danced to Raffi in the living room. I’m happily treasuring every smile, giggle and new achievement and storing them in my heart. Motherhood is nothing short of amazing!

I "bloglifted" this from my Aunt Julie! I thought it was soo good, I just had to post on my blog as well!

Boomerangs have been used for generations both as a weapon and for sport. Most of us are familiar with how these wooden, angular objects, when thrown correctly, fly right back to the thrower. But boomerangs aren’t the only things in life that behave this way.

One of Aesop’s fables tells of an ant who falls into a fountain and is about to drown when a dove, watching from a tree above, drops a leaf into the water. The grateful ant climbs on it and floats to safety.

Just then the ant sees a hunter approaching with a net to catch the unsuspecting dove. The ant quickly bites the hunter on the ankle, causing him to drop the net and allowing the dove to escape.

Just Like Mom....

The other day Addison was walking around the house with one of the foam paint brushes that I use to paint my signs. She found the package of new ones and helped to herself to a brush. She then started to "paint" the wall and carpet with her brush! It was ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE! She was copying me--such a bittersweet moment! It made me tear up but I was so happy at the same time. It's hard to explain. Yesterday I was using my cricut to cut out some vinyl and she was in the room helping. She has her own cricut mat and gets to play with the scrap vinyl. She was trying to put some of her vinyl on her mat while I was putting my vinyl on my mat.. Again--SOOO ADORABLE. I just love her!

Wish I would have gotten some better pictures, but everytime she sees me taking a picture she comes towards me!

I just got back from a park and meet a super nice mom and her cute twin girls. The twins had fun playing with them! And they were about a month apart which is nice! I was going to ask is she wanted to meet up sometime, but I totally froze and wasn't sure what to say! That have happen to anyone? Now I'm really kicking myself and wishing that I would have said something! GRR...Why can't I be more assertive.....

To say tonight has been crazy, would be an understatement! Addison was apparently not happy with her dinner of steak, cauliflower, applesauce and a roll because shortly after Derrick and I sat down to eat she started screaming. We tried to offer her different food we know she likes (puffs, cottage cheese) but to no avail! I put her in the tub hoping that it would calm her down since she loves the play in the water and while daddy BBQ'd we been playing in the sandbox, so she had sand EVERYWHERE! Well she was not about to be in the tub--I did get the sand out of the nooks and crannies though! I held Addison and daddy gave Aiden a bath. Addi decided she would take a bath too since brother was in the tub. Derrick offered to let me go finish my dinner since I still had most of my steak left, but I decided to check my email. When Addison got out, Derrick yelled out to me, "Naked girl on the loose". She stood at the doorway to the bathroom, looked back at Derrick and peed--not just a little puddle, but a BIG puddle. Got that cleaned up and took Addi to the kitchen where I found Charlie on top of the table polishing off my steak! He has never done that before! So, he is now in his kennel and the children are all diapered. I'm exhausted!! Welcome to our life!

You just pick the option you want and then you can print your package label! And here's the really EXCITING part! You get a discount on the postage rates!! Click on the picture above to get a better view, but they show you the discount. AND--as if this isn't already enough, Delivery Confirmation (my favorite service) is FREE online!!! WAHOO!!! Also, you can request a carrier pick up so the mailman or lady will come and pick up your package from your mailbox or doorstep! AWESOMELY AWESOME! I have used this service sooo many times! It's a great time saver for all the packages I've been sending out with Conixon Creations and I don't have to worry about standing in the PO line with the twins. (Sounds like a crazy adventure!)

A few tips---

Make sure you select the right date for shipping the package. For example if it's late Tuesday night, don't select Tuesday as the ship date--it won't be going on in the mail that day! Select Wednesday! I always make the ship date the date I'm going to have the our mail carrier pick up the package. Plus, this lets you accurately judge how quickly the package arrives
Priority Mail takes about 2-3 days! Wickedly quick!
Make sure that you accurately weigh your package--not fair for you to get a cheaper ship price and the mail carrier to have to carry something heavier than expected! Plus, they may deliver your package with postage due--not nice for the person on the receiving end!

I can hardly believe it! The time has flown by! I've been extremely lucky to have been able to stay at home with them this whole year! It amazes me to think that they were soooo tiny and small and how far they've come. We've definitely been blessed! Here are a few of my favorite pictures for their early months.

For Addison's birthday, my friend Stephanie (she owns Baby LaPlume) made Addi this adorable tutu and an amazing sparkly headband. I'm saving the headband for her birthday, but I had to get some pictures of Addison in her tutu--she is just toooo cute!!

The twins got their first pair of shoes!! On our way home from Ryan's graduation, we stopped at this amazing outlet mall. They happened to have a Stride-rite so we got the twins' feet measured. Aiden is a 5XW and Addison wears a size 4.

My First Mother's Day

My first mother's day is rapidly approaching. Some days it's still hard for me to believe that I'm a mother, let alone a mother to twins. Being a mother is like nothing I expected and everything I hoped for. It's hard to believe that someone with such tiny fingers and toes can have such a big place in your heart. Here are some other things I've learn-- Who knew that:

Sleepless nights would be okay?
Someones cry could be so heart wrenching?
Watching first crawls, first words, and first steps could such a happy event?
You could sleep upright while holding a baby?
Holding a sleeping baby is like holding an angel?
Time really does fly?!

Shoot--I had this all written in my head, but then I got interrupted, and now it's gone! Hopefully I still got the majority of it out onto paper!

Don't forget to LOVE your mom!

The Last Swim

It was our last swim lesson last night. Derrick was on call, so he got to take pictures and Auntie Tiffany got to fill in! They love the pool! Aiden starts kicking as soon as his feet hit the water. Addi is not a huge fan of getting her face wet.

Addison

The twins LOVED swim lessons! We don't have pictures of them actually in the pool since we both were in the water, but we hope to get grandma or grandpa to take some pictures for us! We did take pictures of them in their swimsuits before we left. They are so adorable (not that I'm biased or anything)!!
